Rifle Information
The most popular calibers for plains game are .270, .308, .30-06, .300 Win Mag and .338 Win Mag.
Ammo must be of premium quality.
Minimum caliber for Dangerous Game is .375 H&H.
We will send you the SAPS520 form along with sections you must complete and a hunting invitation letter.
You will need to produce these documents at Customs along with your return airline tickets, passport and 4457 form as proof of ownership obtained from your local Customs Office.
Clothing
Camo clothing, Real Tree or Mossy Oak, is allowed in South Africa.
No military type camo clothing for any country north of SA. Dark khakis or olive green clothing is recommended.
Checklist
Bring 2 long sleeve and 2 short sleeve shirts, 2 long pants, sweaters and a warm jacket.
Gloves and 2 pairs of good walking shoes / hiking boots.
Thermal underwear, warm socks.
Valid passport with at least 2 blank pages, sunblock, insect/tick repellant, cap/hat.
Travel
Clients can fly and enter South Africa either at Cape Town or Johannesburg and then connect to Port Elizabeth.
The hunting area located in the Greater Fish River Valley is a 90 minute drive from Port Elizabeth. Pick up and drop off days are not included as hunting days.
Flights are booked from the client’s country of departure. If you have any problems with travel arrangements, Huntin’ ‘n’ Fishin’ Safaris, Africa, can recommend a reputable travel agent to assist you.
We advise you to allow at least 3 hours between arrival and connecting flights in order to clear customs and weapons.
It is recommended that you take out travel insurance for trip cancellation and loss of personal effects.
Huntin’ ‘n’ Fishin’ Safaris, Africa, whilst taking all reasonable precautions and care for the safety of clients, will not be responsible for any illness, accident or loss arising from any cause whatsoever.
We would urge you to take an all-over insurance policy prior to arriving in South Africa. For medical emergencies, Grahamstown Hospital and doctors are just a 30 minute drive from the hunting lodge.
